Academic Material Covered

I have taken many courses at Umpqua Community College and Eastern Oregon University. These courses help to provide me with the academic material needed for this chosen profession

As I was working towards my associates, I was able to attend the classes in person because I was physically located near the college. I thought I was done with schooling and ready to move forward in my career as is. I wanted to work at the Family Development Center or as a Case Manager. After needing to leave my job to stay at home with my children and help them hands on, I realized I would need to get another degree in order to work at the center or receive the qualifications needed for case management. I went back to school but I am located on the other side of the state so now I am a completely online student.

My Bachelors Degree will be in Interdisciplinary Studies with minors in Psychology and Sociology/Anthropology. Many of these classes focus on the mental processes behind development and life experiences. Many also focus on the effects society has on people and people on society. This covers the psychology and sociology aspects of my degree. If working at the Family Development Center, I would mostly be working with children, their families, and the community they belong too. All courses listed have some benefit of knowledge for working within those three subjects. Even courses I didn’t list, that may not apply at first glance, have benefits to my goals. For example, Intro to Music will increase my musicality and music has been proven to have effects on the brain, especially in children.
